Foods for Toddlers

World Pediatric Dental Toddler Foods

WHAT FOODS ARE BEST FOR TODDLERS?

If you have picky toddlers, you may rejoice that they’re simply eating what you put in front of them. But we encourage you to continue trying to feed your toddlers healthy foods to keep their teeth strong and cavity free.

Foods high in Vitamin D and calcium are especially important for promoting strong teeth and bones. Children aged 1 – 3 should consume 700 mg of calcium per day and 600 IU of vitamin D.

Some calcium-rich foods include:

  • Dairy, such as milk, cheese, and yogurt
  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Soybeans
  • Calcium-fortified orange juice, oatmeal, and cereal

Good sources of vitamin D include:

  • Tuna, mackerel, and salmon
  • Cheese
  • Egg yolks
  • Vitamin D-fortified dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereal
